Can you believe we're in December already? This year has flown by!

Although 2014 has gone fast, we hope that it has been successful for you. It's now time to reflect on the past year and solidify the plans for 2015 and beyond.

TECH TIP: DATABASE MAINTENANCE

Did you know that there are some simple (and not so simple) things you can do to improve the speed and performance of your Macola database?

An example (for Macola ES users) is a clean-up of temporary tables and views. We will often go in and delete these if we are working on a project with you so you may not have even realized they were there.

These temporary tables are caused by users cancelling out of a task or report due to error or using task manager instead of closing the screen properly.

There are other tasks that should be done on a regular basis to keep your system running efficiently. We will be putting together a list of these items so that you can review with your IT professional. Harvest can also take care of these tasks for you.

F9 - EXCEL BASED FINANCIAL REPORTING

Great for those Microsoft Excel enthusiasts, Infor F9 is an easy-to-use financial reporting tool that dynamically links general ledger data to Microsoft Excel.

Some of the features of F9 include:

  • Customizable dashboards
  • Interactive task panes
  • Updated scheduling and distribution options
  • Web-based reporting
  • Infor F9 viewer

For current users of F9

Please be aware that version 4 is now in retirement mode. Customers on maintenance for this product will continue to have access to support, however; F9 advises of risks to remaining on version 4 as the product will no longer have:

  • Compatibility support related to Microsoft Office and platform updates, including Microsoft Windows 8, Microsoft Office 64-bit and Microsoft Office 2013
  • Maintenance updates or corrections if specific issues with new platforms
  • Compatibility support related to accounting system updates
  • Enhancements or newly released features

Version 5 is the foundation for current and future enhancements. It is compliant with the latest version of Microsoft Office and Microsoft platforms.

POLICY UPDATE: REMOTE ACCESS

You may have received an email and phone call from us about the change to our remote access policy. If we have access to your site, we will be changing the password over the next few weeks and continuously every six months.

We value your data security and feel it is important to continually change the passwords to ensure we maintain a high level of security while accessing your site.

Please assist us by having your IT department allow us the rights to change our passwords as needed for our remote desktop connections to your site. We also request that you set the passwords to be reset no longer than every 180 days.
